MIWB Confirms Treatment Capacity Restored

Mount Isa Water Board confirms the successful completion of repairs allowing the recommissioning of five of six filter plant units meaning the needed treatment capacity has been restored.

“Treatment capacity has been returned to a maximum of 25 million litres per day out of our total installed maximum capacity of 30 million litres per day” MIWB Chief Executive Stephen Farrelly said “this is more then sufficient capacity for normal water demands at this time of year which are less than 20 million litres each day”

Restoration of the sixth treatment train is still pending the arrival of replacement parts from Brisbane.

“MIWB thanks the community for forbearance during this short period of inconvenience. I would also like to extend a special thank you to the operations and maintenance staff who put in long hours to implement the urgent repairs” Mr Farrelly said.

Mount Isa Water Board is a State Government agency charged with managing $146 million in vital water supply infrastructure, delivering tens of billions of litres of water each year to customers, including the city and major industrial customers.
