20 Mar Critical Infrastructure Repairs Progress
Mount Isa Water Board thanks the community for their co-operation with the precautionary water conservation measures over the forthcoming weekend.
“Overnight, an incident has damaged electrical infrastructure necessary for the filtration process” MIWB Chief Executive Stephen Farrelly said “there is sufficient water available for all essential uses for the present time”
“full restoration of the treatment capacity is pending the arrival of replacement parts from Brisbane, however the team has made excellent progress today in completing partial repairs which will limit any risk of water running low next week”
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the request to reduce water use. I want to assure the community that all actions are being taken to avoid any interruption of residential water supplies”.
Supply of unfiltered water to the Mine remains unaffected.
Mount Isa Water Board is a State Government agency charged with managing $146 million in vital water supply infrastructure, delivering tens of billions of litres of water each year to customers, including the city and major industrial customers.
